中国命运的决战》全景式、全方位展现了半个世纪前发生在中国大地上的革命与反革命、光明与黑暗两种命运、两个前途的殊死斗争，展现了中国共产党在世界斗争格局中的历史作用，着重描绘了中国共产党领导人民革命推翻反动统治，建立新中国，人民当家做主的艰难而辉煌的战斗历程，艺术地再现了无产阶级革命领袖的风采。 这部作品的突出特点是把中国命运的选择放在世界格局上写，突破了以前的创作局限，使人们加深对解放战争的胜利和新中国建立的伟大历史意义的理解，并带入了对中美关系发展的思考。同时根据电视剧的特点，以写高层决策为主、文戏为主的原则，为充分刻画历史巨人展开了篇幅。剧中涉及历史人物378名。毛泽东、周恩来、朱德、邓小平、蒋介石、张治中、斯大林、莫洛托夫、李宗仁、丘吉尔、江青、宋美龄、冈村宁次、东条英机、艾森豪威尔威尔、马歇尔、杜鲁门等上百位世界知名人物亮相登场。

They have what it takes to be on the receiving end of the scrutinising gaze of Star, who sees through conventions and never ceases to be amazed at life’s bewildering events. Veering on slapstick, Walker’s performance will not go unnoticed.
